Tell That Story

I believe every story and every book was once an idea, an inspiration, an awakening, a realisation, etc. Wait, this means that we all could actually be writers! Because all of us, at some point in life, probably ‘many points in life’ have had these amazing imaginations, epiphanies, or even anecdotes that we could actually turn into a whole story! This is how writers, poets, comedians, musicians, actors, scriptwriters, or even movie producers are born. How about the diversity of genres? Since human beings have different experiences, backgrounds, cultures, upbringing, values, exposure, etc, this means that there is no limit to uniqueness, since all these factors among others contribute to the diversity of genres! No wonder Literature is so interesting! You can never completely lack something that suits your interest or satisfy your curiosity. We have many books in our secondary library from fiction to non-fiction, classics, and 21st-century books that our students could choose from. Teachers also have interesting authentic stories to tell. This week when the Y6 came to secondary to do an English and Literature lesson with s Mkok, she told an authentic story about Khamisi from her very own experience and yes, the story had a moral lesson as well. You can get a summary of the story retold by the students in this newsletter…Just by reading these accounts and looking at the pictures, you will know, indubitably, that the learners were fully absorbed in the lesson and their interest was held to the maximum. The story was told by Ms Mkok, read by students, a discussion was done, and from it a SPAG activity was generated. The lesson achieved the four aspects of teaching the English language which is reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Maybe Ms Mkok should publish ‘Khamisi’.

Do you have a story that you would like to tell? Put it down on paper and if you are better at telling it, then record and share…you never know it may brighten someone's day.
