Year 6 and 7 Team Building

8th July 2022

On Friday 1st July our Year 6 and 7 students went on a fun, team building day trip to Sai Rock beach Hotel as part of the Year 6’s transition to secondary school.

Our arrival at Sai Rock was met with chilly weather which did nothing to stop the excitement and high mood of the students. The morning started on the beach with a quick warm up game of “sun-sand-sea”, which had the students jumping up and down and running forwards and backwards. This was followed by a beach scavenger hunt that was partially stopped for a rainy swim and some fun in the pool. The students made teams and had fun fetching handfuls of rocks, seaweeds and shells among other interesting and ‘cool’ items.

Great teamwork was evident as these items were then used during sand sculpting with amazing creativity from the teams. It was hard to judge the winners with so many fantastic and imaginative designs on show, from eight foot high space rockets to an entire mini hotel and beach resort. The teams gave descriptions and stories behind their amazing creations and we broke for lunch.

Lunch was served at the same venue and our students enjoyed the beef burgers, chicken and fries followed by ice-cream and soda. The afternoon was filled with fun games that included the most loved and competitive ‘capture the flag’, wind assisted dodgeball and finally tug of war. The students then dived back into the pool for swimming time and they had great fun until the end of the day, where handfuls of ice lollies were eagerly passed around and much deserved!

They were all superb, having fun and supporting each other in the groups during the activities. It was evident that the day was a success with all the students being fully engaged in the various activities of the trip. The trip was fun and action-packed and was enjoyed by all.
