Year 4 Summer Term News

24th May 2024

As we conclude the first half of term 3, we are excited to share the highlights and achievements of Year 4. It has been filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences. Here’s a glimpse into what our young learners have been up to:

Mathematics

Our students have tackled new and challenging concepts with great enthusiasm. They have mastered topics such as fractions, decimals, and basic geometry. Their hard work and persistence in understanding these complex areas have been truly commendable.

English

The children have shown remarkable progress in their reading and writing skills. We explored various genres, from poetry to narrative writing. Our budding authors created fantastic stories, playscripts, and poems, which were proudly displayed in our classroom. Their creativity and expression have flourished, making this a standout half term for English.

Science

This half term, our focus was on the states of matter. The hands-on activities and experiments sparked curiosity and led to a deeper understanding of the natural world. With the onset of the long rains, the students can now use scientific terms to explain the water cycle, demonstrating their growing knowledge and enthusiasm for science.

History

In history, the class undertook a detailed study of The Tudors. They learned to order historical events chronologically and compare life today with life 500 years ago. The learners enjoyed discovering the intriguing stories of King Henry VIII and his famous six wives. The lessons culminated in an exciting assembly on The Tudors, showcasing their knowledge and creativity. A big shout-out to the class for their excellent work!

We are incredibly proud of all that our Year 4 students have achieved and look forward to even more exciting learning adventures in the second half of term.
