Year 3 News

15th September 2023

It has been a fantastic and exciting start to KS2 in Year 3 and we have settled very well into our new classroom routine and commenced our learning.

In science, we learned to identify various push and pull forces acting on objects. We enjoyed creating freeze frames in class showing different actions and having our peers guess the type of force being demonstrated.

In Maths, we are working on place value up to 1000. We are excited to count using base 10s and enjoy the extra challenge of solving word problems.

In English, we are working towards exploring the stylistic devices used in ‘The Magic Box’ poem by Kit Wright. So far we have discussed the words and phrases which make the box magical. Next we are going to collect our own unusual images and items that we wish to put in our own magical box poems.

In Geography, we are curious to learn more about Italy’s famous landmarks, climate, food, and culture. We can show you which continent to find this European country on the globe and using our compass, know what direction to take to get there from Kenya. We thoroughly enjoyed making our Italian flag collages in Art class and can explain what the three colours in the flag stand for.

We look forward to sharing more with you in our class assembly next week!
