30th June 2023
The Year 3 class has been busy with various exciting activities over the past weeks, and we are thrilled to share some highlights with you:
Literacy Corner
In literacy, the Year 3 students have been diving into the magical world of storytelling. Our young writers have been creating adventure stories with captivating characters, exciting settings, and thrilling plots. We encourage you to ask your child about their favourite story they have written so far!
Maths Mania
In mathematics, the Year 3 class has been focusing on developing their skills in solving word problems using different mathematical operations. We have also been exploring different types of lines and the concept of measurement, with a particular emphasis on length, mass, and capacity.
Science Adventures
Our Year 3 students have embarked on an amazing scientific journey, thinking scientifically, conducting hands-on experiments and exploring fascinating topics.
Surface Tension Exploration: Our young scientists have observed how water forms droplets on various surfaces and how the surface tension allows small objects to float on the water's surface.
Buoyancy Investigations: They have been investigating how different objects float or sink in water. Through hands-on experiments, the students have explored the relationship between the weight of an object, the amount of water displaced, and the buoyant force.
Soil Permeability Experiments: Our budding geologists have been digging into the topic of soil permeability, and conducted experiments to investigate how water passes through different types of soil, including sand, clay, and loam.
Fossil Excavations and Paleontology: They embraced their inner paleontologists and embarked on an exciting journey through time, participating in simulated fossil excavations, carefully chipping away layers of sediment to uncover ancient artefacts.
Artistic Expressions
Creativity has flourished in the Year 3 classroom! Their colourful creations are proudly displayed on the walls, showcasing their unique talents and imaginative minds. We encourage you to visit our classroom to appreciate their impressive artwork.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Pasta.
