Y6 residential trip to Savage Wilderness, Sagana.

16th June 2023

This week, Y6 travelled by bus, train then another bus to Sagana, to spend the week being adventurous outdoors; we had such a fantastic time!

Monday saw us up before dawn and on our way. We spent most of the day travelling but it was worth it when we saw how beautiful the camp was and how great our rooms were.

After a good dinner and a great night's sleep, we embarked on our activities on Tuesday morning. We started off with ziplining, then had a go at rock climbing, which required immense stamina and perseverance. In the afternoon, we tried archery, which some of us were brilliant at!

Wednesday, we got wet! As cold as the water was, we enjoyed leaping in the pool and leaping off the high bank into the wild river below. In the afternoon, we paired up and took the 'duckies' downriver (small inflatable kayaks).

On Thursday morning, we took the SUPs out- stand-up paddle boards. We spent a lot of time falling off them but it was good fun.

In the afternoon, what we had all been waiting for- white water rafting! The water was high and the water was frothing as we tumbled down the rapids in our rafts, guided by our expert instructors. It was brilliant!

Friday was another early start- on the bus by 4am!- for our journey back to Mombasa. A week of fun, adventure, facing our fears, friendship and teamwork- a perfect almost-end to Y6 and our Primary years. Just a fantastic week!
