White Rose Maths

13th October 2023

This academic year in maths, we have begun using a new scheme of learning called White Rose Maths. This scheme of learning breaks learning objectives laid out by the National Curriculum into manageable, engaging ‘steps’.

The philosophy behind White Rose Maths focuses on making maths fun for children and helping them to find enjoyment in number problems, because when children are engaged in learning and enjoying maths, that’s when lessons really sink in and deep learning happens. Resources are designed to be enjoyable and varied, to help children develop a love of learning and work towards mastery.

White Rose Maths also has an outstanding free app called ‘1-minute maths’, which aims to help children build greater number fluency. It’s all about targeted practice through engaging, one-minute chunks and we encourage BMIS families to download this app on home devices to consolidate learning completed in class.
