Secondary Interhouse 2024

28th June 2024

Last week saw us bring together our secondary students in our annual Netball and touch Rugby interhouse contests.

It was a very good afternoon's sport, with every member of the secondary section playing a part and a good relief after a week of examinations for all, the IGCSE finals for the Year 11 and AS level examinations for Year 12.

The Rugby matches saw some excellent athleticism, with some students shining very brightly. Kifaru’s Alexander was the brightest star, scoring several tries and creating several more as Kifaru went on to win this event. Chui played extremely well moving the ball very nicely as a team with Sarai coming very close on a few occasions along with Poul. The games were all very close, especially with Simba and Chui, with a solitary try separating them.

Rugby

  1. Kifaru (4 tries)
  2. Simba (1 try)
  3. Chui (0 tries)

The Netball games were even closer. Each team won one game leaving the winning order to be decided by the number of goals scored! This after Chui won their first game, with some excellent team play, the leopards never gave up! Coming from behind to take the win. In the second game, Kifaru bounced back and won, with some excellent play. As the final game was played, Chui had a real chance of winning Netball for the first time in several years. Until Simba turned up and played really well with Lilly creating several chances for Hendrika and Ernest.

Netball:

1.Simba (11 goals)

2.Kifaru (9 goals)

3.Chui (6 goals)

Overall it was an excellent final interhouse for me to referee at BMIS. The students all put in a great deal of effort and were really impressed with their skill and enthusiasm.
