As the school year draws to a close, we can reflect on the remarkable achievements and vibrant activities that students have engaged in. This year, they have participated in events and competitions, showcasing language skills.
Thank you to all students who have participated in various events this year.
THE BADMINTON TROPHY DRAMA COMPETITION: Our Year 7 and 8 students shone brightly at The Badminton Trophy Drama Competition in Nairobi. In a thrilling twist, they participated in an impromptu performance, which highlighted their ability to think on their feet and work collaboratively under pressure. Their creativity and spontaneity captivated the audience, as they also enjoyed watching other schools present their imaginative short skits. This event was a wonderful opportunity for our young actors to explore their theatrical talents and gain confidence in their expressive abilities.
COBIS POETRY COMPETITION: This year’s COBIS Poetry Competition revolved around the inspiring theme of 'A Future to Be Proud Of'. Our students enthusiastically embraced this theme, submitting a myriad of poignant and imaginative poems. These entries not only reflected their deep thinking but also their eagerness to connect with peers from COBIS schools worldwide. A special congratulations to the winners of our Inter House Poetry Competition, who displayed exceptional literary talent and creativity.
ARMISTICE ASSEMBLY WAR POETRY RECITALS: Our Year 9 students paid a heartfelt tribute to the heroes of World War I during our annual Armistice Assembly. Through powerful recitals of War Poetry, they conveyed the solemn and reflective sentiments of the era, bringing history to life and honouring the memories of those who served.
WORLD BOOK DAY PRESENTATIONS: As we celebrated World Book Day the KS3 students presented the books they have been studying in class in a celebration of literature, where students engaged in lively discussions about characters, themes, and the valuable lessons they gleaned from their readings. Their presentations not only showcased their speaking skills but also their ability to critically analyse and communicate their thoughts effectively.
BIOGRAPHY WRITING PROJECT: Year 8 students embarked on an exciting journey into the lives of their heroes and role models through their Biography Writing Project. This project involved research, interviews, and dynamic class presentations where each student proudly shared their biographical work, demonstrating their research skills and eloquence in presenting their findings, and investigative and narrative skills.
DEBATES AND PUBLIC SPEAKING: Our students' oratory skills were put to the test in various debates and public speaking activities. Year 9 students participated in a spirited class debate on the topic ‘Mobile Phones are a Health Hazard,’ where they articulated their arguments with clarity and conviction. Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate the final debating event of the year, ‘The Political Parties Debate’. This upcoming event promises to be a showcase of the finest debating and public speaking talents, as students prepare to engage in a compelling discourse at the end of the term.
