Primary Science Showcase

24th November 2023

We love science! Wandering around school, it is possible to catch our Primary students, from Early Years all the way up to Y6, digging in the dirt or investigating the way different materials behave in water; or collecting minibeasts and examining habitats; or conducting a hygiene experiment or testing and building magnets; or investigating the effect of sugary drinks on teeth; or exploring the changes from birth to old age; or dissecting hearts and building electrical circuits! Science surrounds us! Even the rain can't stop our students, equipped with their gum boots, from exploring the rich, tropical environment around us. The opportunities we create and find at school for science are varied and exciting.

Science is a core curriculum subject and one that is a priority at BMIS. Our young learners are constantly developing their investigative skills and questioning expertise. We saw a wealth of scientific knowledge in our homework projects at our recent Project Exhibition, too! Have a look at the exciting learning your children have been involved in in their science lessons:

Y1- The seasons and then properties of materials

Y2- Life cycles, including keeping healthy, and then habitats

Y3- Forces and magnets, then nutrition, skeletons and muscles

Y4- Digestion and then living things

Y5- The Solar System, then human life cycles, from birth to old age

Y6- The heart and circulation, then electricity!
