Our budding authors have been on an epic journey this term, unleashing their creativity from the very first scribbles in Pre-Crèche to the polished prose of Year 6.
In Pre-Crèche, tiny hands have been busy making their mark, while eager voices start to talk about what they have drawn. The Crèche crew delights in sharing the stories behind their colourful creations. Meanwhile, FS1 students, through engaging storytelling sessions, have been learning to detect the rhythmic patterns and identify the rhymes within the tales. And over in FS2, the children are great at thinking outside of the box, crafting sentences to accompany their illustrations during the Drawing Club's storytelling sessions.
In Year 1, after looking closely at popular superhero stories, each student created their own hero and villain. They then used the usual superhero story format to create their own epic super-sagas!
In Year 2 they were inspired by Julia Donaldson’s stories. The students created their own tales, practicing narrative structure and creative expression.
Students in Year 3 have worked on persuasive writing. They used a range of persuasive vocabulary to convince Mr. Boggington not to locate his pickled onion factory on our school field. In play-scripts and dialogues, they used various features to write and act out their own scenes.
While in Year 4, students have explored play scripts and stories from other cultures. In the play scripts unit, they used the text 'The Princess and the Pea,’ to write the next scene.
Over in Year 5, they ventured into the realm of persuasive writing, where the students explored various examples of persuasive texts. They successfully crafted their own advertisements and persuasive pieces aimed at swaying the reader's opinion. Presently, they are immersed in the exploration of debate poems, with a focus on comparing tea and coffee-themed poetry.
In Year 6, they have been studying Shakespeare's 'Macbeth'. They wrote diary entries, letters, poetry and newspaper reports. The story had them gripped from start to finish, as they explored the murky depths of Macbeth's greed, weakness and ultimate downfall.
From scribbles to sentences to full stories, our students are writing their way through every chapter of their academic journey!
