4th March 2023
Friday 24th February was Book Day at BMIS. The day began with a book parade, where our students and staff from EYFS, Primary and High School showed their costumes from some favourite books.
Our EYFS and primary students participate in some exciting activities from book quizzes, designing Elmer patterns, dressing the classroom door, drawing characters and making comic strip.
Mr Buckley, Ms Karuri and I have shared our activities of the day.
I would like to thank all the staff, students and parents for participating and contributing to what is one of my favourite days of the year.

The EYFS children enjoyed the story of Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Brown with Ms Marina. This is a lovely story set in Kenya with a variety of animals and a great surprise ending. The FS1, Crèche and Pre-crèche children went on a safari hunt with binoculars, looking for the hidden animals outside. The FS2 children sequenced and retold the story.

The Year 4’s and Year 6’s put their creative hats on during world book day and made their own custom-made bookmarks. A bookmark comes in handy for when you are reading and you need to take a pause and mark the page that you need to come back to! You only need paper and some imagination to create a bookmark!

After reading the book ‘Mad About Dinosaurs!’ which featured some catchy poems about a range of dinosaurs, children created their own prehistoric creatures! They named their imaginary dinosaur, created a model of it and even described its diet and habitat!
