MISL Junior Athletics Meet

11th November 2022

Last saturday morning a bus - full of excited, enthusiastic and dedicated students set out for Aga Khan school in readiness for the MISL Junior Athletics meet. We were there along with thirteen other schools, all set for the event.

Our tent was well-populated with both students and parents who gave their time to support the team through the day. They were in for a treat as our runners, jumpers and throwers performed fantastically.

Our 12 and under team managed our best results of the day, with a fourth overall, but all three teams performed superbly. We did very well in the technical events, with our jumpers managing places in the high jump. Daisy (10 and under) and Kevin (12 and under) both gained second place. In the long jump, Nuriyah managed second place (10 and under), Matis also managed third place (12 and under) and in a fantastic performance Aiden M managed a first place in the javelin(12 and under). On the track we also had successes, with the cross country. Daisy achieved an amazing first place (10 and under) while Matis also managed a second place (12 and under) and then in the 200m Matis and Sienna both managed third places. Aiden also managed a second place in the ball shuttle (12 and under) and finally our 12 and under boys relay team managed second place.

Our team was seventh overall, a very creditable performance with many more close to placing in the top three. The most impressive thing at the event was the spirit shown among the team, supporting each other no matter which age group.

Overall I am very pleased with our performance and we are looking forward to the upcoming IAPS Athletics event and the Senior Kasarani event, both in Nairobi.
