Children of all ages face problems and challenges on a daily basis and as parents or teachers, we can’t be there to solve every problem for our children! In fact, this isn’t our job. Our job is to teach our children how to solve problems constructively by themselves.
This way, they can become confident, independent and successful individuals, and instead of giving up or getting frustrated when they encounter a challenge, children with problem solving skills manage their emotions, think creatively and persist until they find a solution.
With that in mind, this week we recommenced Problem Solving Maths sessions across all year levels in Primary. Our children enjoyed tackling a range of mathematical conundrums and along the way, have begun developing a bank of problem solving strategies that will equip them with the skills to solve challenges in their daily lives.
Here are some pictures of the Maths problems our children have been working on this week.
