Eleven BMIS students travelled by train to Nairobi to take part in the annual Kenton College Maths Challenge. The Maths Challenge was officiated by Douglas Buchannan, a now-retired Headteacher who conducts 40 challenges a year throughout the UK and East Africa.
Working in teams of 2, students were required to solve 7 mathematical puzzles involving number patterns, dominoes, cards and tangrams. Teams were scored depending on how many parts of each puzzle they were able to solve in the allotted time.
While we knew that we had brought some of BMIS’s brightest mathematicians, our team of budding maths masterminds exceeded all expectations and all of our Primary teams finished in the top 10! An exceptional result!
