As we move forward in our academic journey for the Year 12 students, one essential topic that becomes increasingly important is preparedness for work. This half term the PSHCE lessons focused on the key aspects that are essential to help them stand out as well-rounded candidates in the future work environment.

For the past few weeks, the students had a valuable tip to take home every day as they discussed and crucial aspects they walked through the steps of preparation for the next stage of their life and discussed crucial aspects needed in readiness for the next milestone in their lives; the step into ‘The world of work’.

Preparedness for Work Tips :-

  1. The Importance of a Strong Work Ethic

Tip: Develop a schedule for schoolwork, extracurriculars, and even personal projects. This will help you get used to balancing various responsibilities, which is essential for the workplace.

2. Setting Career Goals

Tip : Try to participate in extracurricular activities like clubs, volunteering, or even group projects to practise these skills in a real-world context.

3. Building Key Skills

Tip: Research companies or industries you are interested in. Look for insights into their work culture, dress code, and expectations from employees.

4. Understanding the Work Environment

Tip : Research companies or industries you are interested in. Look for insights into their work culture, dress code, and expectations from employees.

For all our students it is important to know that preparing for the workforce does not happen overnight, but by starting early, developing the right skills, and cultivating a professional attitude, you will be setting yourself up for success. Experiences in school, part-time work, and extracurricular activities can all contribute to the kind of employee employers want to hire.
