At Braeburn, we believe in nurturing responsible citizens ready to tackle the challenges of adulthood with confidence and integrity. This term, our Year 11 and Year 13 students have focused on key aspects of developing independence - personal responsibility and social awareness. Through the Braeburn Circles, students have been learning how to manage change, prioritise their health, and prepare for life beyond school.
Independence is more than just managing tasks on your own; it is about making informed decisions, respecting yourself and others, and taking ownership of your actions. The students engage in scenarios and case studies that explore how to balance their growing responsibilities while preparing for adulthood. The activities covered a range of topics, from financial literacy to developing emotional resilience.
Students are encouraged to develop the skills necessary for a smooth transition into adulthood. From learning life skills such as time management and self-care, to understanding the importance of mental health, these lessons are helping students become confident, responsible individuals who are ready to contribute positively to their communities.
By fostering these core values, we are ensuring that our students are independent, but also equipped to become compassionate and responsible citizens of the world.
Stay independent, stay awesome!
Ms Simon
Students have been working on a number of activities that discuss mental-health and well-being. Looking at these issues has supported students' understanding and appreciation of the sensitive issues that people face. From understanding emotions, to stress management, and from social media to substance abuse and addiction, students have been able to gain knowledge that may support them in the future. A number of workbooks and tools have been shared with students in order to assist them if needed.
