KS3 Trip to Naivasha – An Unforgettable Journey

28th June 2024

We are thrilled to share the wonderful experience our KS3 students had on their recent trip to Naivasha! Last week, our students embarked on a memorable four-day adventure, filled with exciting activities and valuable learning experiences.

The trip kicked off with an early morning departure as our excited students boarded the train bound for Nairobi. The journey was a delightful mix of anticipation and camaraderie. Upon arrival at Naivasha, the students settled into their tents. After a hearty meal, they enjoyed a well-deserved rest, eager for the next day's adventures.

Day two was action-packed, starting with a comprehensive safety briefing where the students attentively listened to the rules for the day’s activities. The morning began with an exhilarating ziplining session at Kereita Forest. The students, harnessed and helmeted, soared through the treetops, conquering their fears as they flew above the canopy of 'The Forest.' Following ziplining, the students engaged in a thrilling paintballing session. Dressed in protective gear and armed with paintball guns, they strategised and worked in teams, showcasing their competitive spirits and building strong bonds with their peers.

The adventure continued with a serene yet exciting boat ride on Lake Naivasha. They saw hippos at a very close range, which initially scared them, but this thrilling encounter quickly turned to excitement as they marvelled at the beautiful scenery and spotted various birds and wildlife. This activity provided a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration, allowing the students to appreciate the natural beauty of the area.

On the third day, the students visited the Geothermal Plant, where they learned about power generation through steam. This educational tour provided insights into renewable energy and its importance. The students were fascinated by the technology and the process involved in harnessing geothermal energy. Afterwards, the journey continued through Hell's Gate National Park where the students saw a variety of game animals and visited several notable sites, including Devil's Cliff, Fisher's Tower, Hell's Kitchen, and Vultures Cliff. These natural wonders sparked their curiosity and appreciation for the environment. In the afternoon, the students enjoyed a refreshing swim in the Olkaria Geothermal Spa, which was a unique experience and a perfect way to relax and unwind after a day of exploration.

On the fourth and final day, we travelled back to Mombasa. The energy and enthusiasm the students displayed, even on the last day of the trip, were truly remarkable, making the journey back home lively and enjoyable. This trip was an unforgettable adventure, filled with learning, bonding, and plenty of fun.

Throughout the trip, our students – our lifelong learners – stayed positive, motivated, curious, and respectful. We are incredibly proud of how they carried themselves with utmost dignity. They have already begun sharing ideas for next academic year’s residential trip, showcasing their enthusiasm and forward-thinking mindset. Thank you all for making this trip an unforgettable experience.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Senior Management Team, the Transport Manager, and the Accountant for their significant roles in organising this trip. A special thank you goes to the parents for their unwavering support, patience, and communication with the school, making this trip a worthwhile and enriching experience for all.
