KS3 Swimming News

8th October 2022

This term in Key Stage 3, we have been busy perfecting our front crawl swimming stroke. Front crawl, also known as freestyle, is typically referred to as the fastest and most efficient stroke; up to 600 calories per hour doing, whilst giving your body a great low-impact workout.

We have also tackled the four components of front crawl which are the down sweep, in sweep, the upsweep and the recovery.

Some of the healthy benefits of swimming that we have discussed during our lessons include: building endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness. Swimming helps you to maintain a healthy weight, heart and lungs.

We have also introduced water basketball in our lessons, not only for fun and enjoyment, but for building our endurance and muscle strength as well.
