KS3 residential trip to Funzi Keys

29th April 2023

At the end of last term, myself and Ms Barasa took the Year Seven, Eight, and Nine students out of school for a residential trip at the Funzi Keys in Kwale County. The students seemed to have had a great time and represented themselves faultlessly.

We engaged in various activities during our stay and the most eventful ones were a boat ride to the sandbank, a walk along the mangrove forest, and visiting the mining fields. The students enjoyed swimming in the pool and spending time at the beach.

Rooms were allocated in groups of three. The huts were well-equipped with hot showers and fans.

The students really loved the food. They enjoyed the meals that were served. My personal favourite was the chicken sandwich. It was amazing!

The last day was relaxed, we enjoyed games after dinner and then later proceeded to the disco where students explored their DJ talents.

Students voice:

I liked that we were able to relax and enjoy each other’s company during activities. I enjoyed swimming at the pool.

Ana Leon Year 9

The place is beautiful. I enjoyed the food and swimming in the pool. I did not like that sometimes it would get very hot.

Hendrika Kamminga Year 9

I enjoyed roasting marshmallows at the beach. It was chilly and nicely calm at night.

Jasmine Mehri Year 8

I enjoyed the trip, especially the food and when we roasted marshmallows at the beach.

Renisa Malde Year 8
