KS2 Round-up

31st March 2023

What a fantastic, busy and exhausting Term 2 it has been!

Years 5 and 6 enjoyed their day trips out this week; Y5 headed to Haller park for cycling, nature and some VR fun while Y6 were getting close to nature at Kwetu. Year 3 had a fantastic time on their residential trip to Mnarani in Kilifi, while Year 4 teamed up with Year 2 to head to Old town and Fort Jesus- some great combined learning.

Embedded amongst our trips and visitors, inter-house hockey and rugby tournaments, swimming galas, chess competitions, homework project exhibitions, assemblies and productions, World Book Day, LAMDA lessons, French exams, a huge variety of after-school activities, transition lessons for Y6 in Y7, sporting competitions in Nairobi, STEM day, music and arts afternoons, Mangahigh and Word Mania competitions, the Young Programmers competition, and art competitions (did I miss anything??), the children have been working hard in their everyday lessons and making some excellent progress in their learning. The number of certificates that we hand out in our Friday Celebration assemblies is testament to the hard work and enthusiasm of the children and staff in our wonderful school. And to you, our magnificent parents and families- thank you for your continuous support and encouragement which makes such an enormous difference to the children’s happiness and readiness to learn. Well done to all of you- you deserve the upcoming break.

Ask your children about their best memory this term; what or who has made a difference to them? Who or what has helped them with their learning? What was their highlight of the whole term? They might surprise you with their answers!

Y6 had this to say:

Sammy: At the beginning of the term, I felt nervous but when I came, I felt good because my friends were all here. I love our trips.

Aleena: I love the LAMDA lessons with Mrs Hughes. They help me with my English and vocabulary.

Ariana: I enjoyed the swimming galas and my LAMDA lessons.

Sienna: I love our swimming lessons because they are fun and they help me to improve my strokes. I also love the LAMDA lessons because Mrs Hughes is a great teacher who does lots of fun activities that help me with my grammar; because of this, I feel that my writing in English has really improved over the past few terms.

Ndumiso: I enjoy my swimming lessons and I enjoyed trying LAMDA. I also like the art activity after school.

Alex: I loved eating ice-cream!
