10th May 2024
Welcome to Term 3! The KS1 teachers have been very impressed by the dedication, enthusiasm and active participation displayed by our students following the Easter break. It seems the rest, along with the cooler weather, has had a very positive impact on learning. Rather than just resuming where we left off, we've already noticed significant progress since the end of term 2 and we’re optimistic of a brilliant third term together.
In Year 1, students will be exploring the 3 major climate zones in Geography while in History, we will be looking into the lives of 10 significant individuals. In Science, students have begun classifying animals into the 6 major animal groups while in English, students will be writing adventure stories about a superhero that they have created. In Maths, we will continue our progression through the White Rose Maths steps and look forward to multiplying, dividing, reading and writing numbers up to 100.
In Year 2, students will embark on an exploration of China in our Geography topic, while in History, we will delve into the Stone Age era. Science lessons will revolve around materials and their properties and in English, our focus will be on quest stories. In Maths, we will concentrate on mass, capacity and temperature and students will learn to identify and calculate fractions of shapes, objects and numbers.
So as you can see, another exciting term ahead in KS1 and we're hopeful that this one might even exceed the achievements of the previous two!
