“Chess is played with the mind and not with the hands”.
Anonymous
After a busy evening of practising chess and playing Uno, our dedicated team made up of Dev, Nuriyah, Aaryan, Ayden and Denis woke up early on Saturday and took to the Inter-Braeburn Chess competition, held at Braeside, in Nairobi. The students were keen to participate in this event, a fairly new but quickly-growing sport in our school. Each child played 6 rapid matches and the results are as follows:
U10
1st place: Aaryan (6 wins)
3rd place: Nuriyah (4 wins)
4th place: Dev (3.5 wins)
U12
4th place: Ayden (3.5 wins)
7th place: Denis (2.5 wins)
The students should be congratulated on the hard work they have put into developing their skills, including working on their game at lunchtime and practising at home. For many of our students, this was their first or second tournament.
I am very proud of all our students and I look forward to seeing chess continue to grow at BMIS!
