16th May 2022
Braeburn Mombasa took a select group of chess enthusiasts from both primary and high school to Nairobi for this year's IAPS Chess tournament which was held at Braeburn Gitanga Road (BGR) on Saturday 7th May 2020.
This was BMIS's first appearance at this tournament and we were represented by Vyan and Aaryan in Year 4, Sienna in Year 5, Sikina in Year 6 and Hendrika in Year 8.
The tournament was played in 4 rounds using the Swiss system with the players paired up with players from either the Under 9 years, Under 11 years or Under 13 categories.
BMIS had a great showing with all the participants scoring points for the school.
For the individual results, the U9 team made an excellent showing with Aaryan Sennik in Year 4 winning the gold medal for coming in 1st position after winning all of his matches. Vyan was a superb opponent as well receiving the silver medal as he came in 2nd in the U9 category. Congratulations to team BMIS!
We would like to thank the organising committee for a very well run tournament, BGE for hosting us overnight and of course, the BMIS participants for their excellent representation.
