Habari za Kiswahili

29th September 2023

In Year 7 our key focus has been ‘Alfabeti’,’Sehemu za mwili’ and ‘Familia Yangu’. Students are learning to introduce themselves confidently and describe their family members in Kiswahili-from siblings to grandparents. They have made steady progress in honing the four language skills. Since the alphabet is the cornerstone of learning Kiswahili, we have continued to form words, phrases, and sentences in different topics as we refer to the Kiswahili syllables.

I have preserved the students' "Familia Yangu" posters which have numerous spelling mistakes! We will look at them again by the end of the term and ‘mark’ them with a focus on spelling and sentence structure; we can then do a self-evaluation on the progress made this term.
