In the vibrant world of Kiswahili, in term 1 our Key Stage 2 students explore topics that span the comfort of 'nyumbani' (home) in Year 3 to the dynamic classroom environment of 'darasani' in Year 4. Year 3 students have enthusiastically embraced the theme of 'nyumbani,' where they learned vocabulary to describe different rooms and elements within their homes. Year 4 on the other hand, focused on 'darasani,' where students immersed themselves in learning classroom-related vocabulary.
The Year 5 students unfolded the world of 'vyakula' (foods), exploring the diverse culinary landscape of Kiswahili-speaking regions and beyond. Students have not only learned the names of various foods but have also expanded their vocabulary to express preferences and describe meals. This term, Year 6 students embraced the theme of 'mavazi' (clothing), enhancing their linguistic repertoire with the names of different clothing items and styles.
The comprehensive approach to Kiswahili learning, including vocabulary building, reading comprehension and storybooks, engaging worksheets, and interactive online games, ensures that our students not only grasp the basics but also develop a genuine appreciation for the language and culture.
