What an exciting five weeks we’ve had in FS2! Our learning has been centered around science and outdoor exploration. We began by investigating trees and our second topic this half term is an exploration of minibeasts. The children have had so much fun discovering trees and insects, both in our Early Years garden and around the school.
We have discussed the important benefits trees provide, and I was so impressed by the knowledge the children shared during our conversations. We also learned about insects and their body parts, and the children had a fantastic time building bug houses using boxes, cardboard rolls, sticks, and leaves. It has been wonderful to see how well they have worked together on this child-led repeated activity.
In addition, we have started learning about how to stay healthy this term. Our focus began with healthy eating, and the children have enjoyed learning the difference between fruits and vegetables. They had a great time tasting a variety of fruits, and they are excited to share with the class what fruits or vegetables they are enjoying for snack time!
I can’t wait to hear their ideas on what our next topic will be after the half-term break.
