We are all encouraged to read and get information from all possible resources.
This term our students, especially the IGCSE candidates, have continued using the school library as an information center and base to carry out their revision. During their study leave, the Year 11 students have a choice of studying at home or coming to school and utilising the school library to revise.
Reading in such a quiet environment helps improve their focus and builds memory skills and self-esteem. Reading also helps alleviate stress and is an ingredient that can assure your academic success if done correctly. The candidates have always made use of this valuable resource responsibly now and in the past.
The school library has also been used as a resource to facilitate reading in the classroom with students having access to the library to borrow books or read daily newspapers or carry out research. They not only expand their vocabulary in this way, but they have access to diverse literature like biographies, encyclopedias, and other resources. All these reading resources are very valuable and this term especially, for the Year 7 and 8 students, they were very useful, as they worked on their autobiography and biography Projects, respectively.
There are also library reading sessions for students where the library is used for leisure reading. Using their individual reading logs, students are also able to share about their reading life and showcase books they read when writing book reviews. And so, we continue to encourage students to read, read and read!
