COBIS STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

26th April 2024

The Student Achievement Awards is open to all COBIS schools, including Applicant schools. Students in Key Stages 2, 3, 4 or 5 are eligible for nomination.

The award recognises outstanding individual achievements or contributions to an aspect of school or community life. Students can be nominated for the award for a number of reasons, including:

  • Exceptional academic achievement
  • Outstanding effort
  • Commitment to a charitable cause
  • Commitment to environmental sustainability
  • Significant contribution to the wider life of the school
  • Significant contribution to the wider community
  • A remarkable demonstration of compassion or kindness
  • Resilience in the face of adversity

Schools may also nominate a student for another reason not listed above.

Schools are limited to three nominations per year. We are delighted to congratulate Etienne, Dev and Fidel W for their nominations. Their outstanding achievements impressed our team who nominated them for their sporting endeavours, their excellence across academic, drama, public speaking and leadership; and their golf journey from learning at a young age to winning major competitions.

Here are the details of their nominations:

Dev excels across academic, manners, drama, and public speaking realms, showcasing unparalleled leadership and grace. He consistently achieves top grades, sets standards for respectful conduct, and captivates audiences with his dramatic talents. Dev's eloquence and confidence in public speaking make him a persuasive advocate, leaving a lasting impact. His multifaceted leadership is inspirational, highlighting the transformative power of dedication and intellect.

Etienne's achievements in various sporting endeavours are nothing short of impressive. Whether it's on the football field, the athletics track, or any other sports arena, Etienne consistently demonstrates an outstanding level of skill and determination. His passion for sports is evident in the way he approaches each game with enthusiasm, energy, and a commitment to excellence.

In addition to his individual achievements, Etienne is a valuable team player, fostering a sense of camaraderie and teamwork among his peers.

Etienne actively participates in school sports events, representing our school with pride and demonstrating the values of fair play and respect for opponents. His positive attitude and sportsmanship have not only earned him the admiration of his peers but have also set a high standard for sportsmanship within our school.

His achievements reflect not only his individual dedication but also the support and encouragement provided by the school community. I wholeheartedly recommend Etienne for any recognition or award that celebrates his remarkable accomplishments in sports.

The last 6 months marked a significant chapter in Fidel’s golf journey, filled with victories, challenges, and very important experiences. Winning 4 out of 5 of his US Kids tournaments was a highlight, showing his hard work and dedication.

Taking part in the Nyali Open taught him important lessons despite missing the cut. It was a moment of growth, showing him resilience and the importance of pushing boundaries.

Exploring new greens, such as the breathtaking Great Rift Valley Lodge and the prestigious Muthaiga Golf Club, added layers to his golfing experience. Each round brought not just a game, but a journey of self-discovery and improvement.

As he reflects on the past year, Fidel is grateful for the victories, humbled by the challenges, and excited for the endless possibilities that lie ahead in his golfing pursuit.
