CISL Open Football Tournament 2024 Shree Academy

Last Saturday we had the great pleasure of accompanying our brave secondary students to the open age group football tournament. Our boys were the youngest team at the tournament and came up against some tough opposition and more than matched them in many ways.

We looked very good with the ball, controlling many parts of matches, closing down the opposition and making them work really hard to get anything from our games. The year seven boys, Ryan and Aiden worked really hard in pressing opposition and forcing mistakes, Matis shone in forward positions pressing high and causing the defenders panic! Aimaan and Alexander, our oldest performers, worked extremely hard, controlling the ball well in possession and closing the opposition midfield down rapidly. Muhamed came in and supported them well when needed. Defensively Fidel and Kevin were solid and supported the midfield, Denis in particular was sticking to his game and working really hard defensively to protect Ayaan and his goal. We may not have won the tournament, but several of our players made an impact and we were recognised in the closing comments for our efforts and performance levels.

Mr Took and I were extremely proud of their performances and look forward to the next time we can take to the field with the boys. A final shout out to Ernest who attended and supported the team valiantly - and assisted us coaching the group.
