In the spirit of celebrating literature and the joy of reading, Braeburn Mombasa School recently commemorated World Book Day with great enthusiasm. The high school students took center stage in honouring this special occasion through a captivating exhibition and presentations that showcased their deep engagement with the literary world.
The heart of the celebration was an exhibition where students delved into the intricacies of the characters, plots, themes, and significant issues embedded within the books they were studying as class texts. These books included:-
Those Who Can't Read, Don't Steal Books...
Y9 - ANIMAL FARM by George Orwell
Y8 - THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PAJAMAS by John Boyce
Y7 - MILLIONS By Frank Cottrell Boyce
With these works proudly on display, they engaged in insightful discussions not only about the stories themselves but also about the esteemed authors behind them.
What made the event truly enriching was the active involvement of parents and visitors. Students eagerly shared their thoughts and interpretations with interested parents, fostering a sense of community and appreciation for literature. Additionally, they embraced the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with those who had read some of the books, exchanging ideas and perspectives in a dynamic intellectual exchange.
The celebration of World Book Day at Braeburn Mombasa School was not only a testament to the school's commitment to promoting literacy but also a reflection of the student's passion for literature. It served as a reminder of the profound impact that books and storytelling have on our lives, inspiring readers of all ages to explore new worlds and perspectives through the pages of a book. As the event concluded, it left a lasting impression on all who participated, hopefully igniting a renewed love for reading and learning within the school community.
