BMIS Science Fair

7th July 2022

The young scientists have been burning the midnight oil to prepare for the annual KS3 science fair. The science projects students worked on stemmed from their independent research of a science topic. They used the scientific method when developing their ideas both independently and with support when necessary. The young scientists described the purpose of their science fair project to their classmates during the event. Their main purpose was to get the audience excited about science by doing it in practice rather than simply learning about it in theory. The fair offered the participants educational opportunities and let students tackle the scientific method hands-on. The students used this platform to present their science projects to fellow students, parents and Braeburn staff.

Students’ voice:

Lilly-May: “The fair was fun, I enjoyed the experiments that were well presented.”

Idah: “Thank you to all participants, I learnt a lot about science concepts.”

Poul: “Most of the experiments were fun, I interacted with the students who showcased their projects.”

Imani: “I am glad my boat floated and I was able to use it to explain my concept to the audience.”

Femi: “All went well, especially my coca cola explosion experiment.”

Abhinav: “It was enjoyable and it was good to see other students’ experiments.”

Fidel: “It was fun to see all the other experiments and I am especially happy that my slime one excited the primary pupils.”

Tunga: “My experiment was exciting and captivating.”

Jake: “It was fun showing people how chemical changes happen by showing the toothpaste experiment.”
