At BMIS, there are a range of after school activities available for the students to choose from throughout the week and students are encouraged to participate in a variety of them, based on their personal interests.
Extracurricular activities allow students the opportunity to explore different areas of interest, develop peer relationships, boost new talent, learn new skills and broaden their social skills, giving them the chance to work with students from different classes and learn how to work in a team to achieve a shared goal. Activities on offer include sporting activities and art activities.

‘Swim to Kilifi and Beyond’, formerly known as ‘Hot 100’ has been a roaring success so far! We decided to rename our activity to give us a goal to aim towards. After some calculations, we found out we had to collectively ‘travel’ 291.2 lengths of the pool by the end of term to ‘get to Kilifi’. So far, we have managed 99! ‘Travelling’ has included swimming, ball games, relay races, human chains and team games, all to get from one side of the pool to the other. Have a look at the fun we have had! Next week includes some synchronised swimming.

The aim of reading rockets is to nurture a love for reading in our young students and to enable them to become better readers and conversationalists.
The children who have attended have really enjoyed plenty of bookish fun discovering great books, sharing new stories, and exploring important topics.
As part of the activities, they played musical books, replaced Supertato with their own choice of superhero, had a go at ‘roll and retell’ and decorated their own chocolate eggs for Mr. Bunny.
The children are looking forward to more book related fun, playing character dress up, charades, making book trailers and reading under the big mango tree, all planned for after half term!
Mosaic Art is an art activity that helps students develop their creative skills. At the beginning of the term, the students gave suggestions on what they would like to make. We then made a plan and selected different pictures to make each week. We have been using coloured paper to create different pictures. The students cut out the paper into different shapes depending on the pictures and then stick them to create their mosaic art pieces. Have a look at some pictures that they have created. In the coming weeks, the student will have an opportunity to use different art materials, including, feathers, real leaves, cellophane paper and wool.

This term in Cricket Club, we have been working on the fundamental skills of cricket in readiness for some upcoming tournaments. Working in the cricket nets, we have learnt to bowl with straight arms, field then ‘throw down’ the stumps, catch high balls and bat effectively. When we had our first ‘scratch match’ this week on the field, the improvements were very noticeable and, by the time the tournaments come around, we will be as sharp as a cricket shoe spike!

The children have enjoyed a range of activities in Creative Play. They have rediscovered some resources and explored new resources. They have worked together to role play superheroes, princesses and families in our home corner. The maths area has seen them work together to build a giant road puzzle. Other favourite resources they have enjoyed using have been the multi-link cubes, minibeast tuff tray, drawing, dominoes, alphabet ice blocks, reading books and the finger gym table. Have a look at some photos from our Monday afternoon activity.

We have enjoyed being creative in Colour Me Happy club where we get to draw and colour some amazing images and this has also helped us to mindfully wind down after a busy day in school.
So far, we have drawn and coloured a few objects, for instance the red panda, a smiling heart, a raccoon, a cute teddy bear and a relaxing pool. We are really proud of how our drawing and colouring skills have been gradually improving!
"I really like Colour Me Happy because I love drawing stuff and I think I want to be an artist someday. Some of the drawings were really hard though, like the red panda.” Faith Y3
