Boarding

Weekly boarding is available from Monday to Thursday night.  Boarders go home after school on Friday and return to school on a Monday morning throughout the academic term.  All meals, including school lunch, break and tea, are included in the boarding fees. There are two separate houses for boys and girls with recreation space in the fenced and secure boarding area, a dining room and kitchen is also in place. Appointments for viewing the boarding facilities or meeting the boarding staff can be made through the school office.

Weekly Boarding

This is not a boarding school but a ‘home from home’ for learners requiring weekly facilities. It is a place to stay which allows students who live too far away for daily travel the opportunity to attend BMIS. A timetable of organised activities is in place for all boarders. Staff from school also give time and energy to such activities after school hours.

There are several ancillary staff, a qualified nurse and two teachers from the school who are responsible for the boarders. Kitchen staff prepare supper and breakfast.

G4S guards provide security and there is an established fire procedure along with other safety procedures in place. Fire drills take place on a regular basis. The students are very safe and both the IAPS and CIS inspectors who visited the boarding facilities were complimentary in their reports.  This included  positive comments on the meals provided.

Occasionally, a public holiday falls mid-week when it is very inconvenient for parents to take their children home. In such cases, the boarding staff often remain and provide a routine for boarders.

Boarders are allowed mobile phones and are able to call their parents every evening. Parents are also able to speak to the boarding staff in the evenings or when they bring boarders back on Mondays or collect on Fridays. The boarding house fees include all meals and transport to and from school at the closure of boarding days. Boarders are also able to attend afternoon sports fixtures both at home and away. WiFi is available in both boarding houses.
